BEd (Hons) with QTS in English Literature with Education
Following my graduation from Cambridge University where I specialised in English Literature with Education, I went on to teach a wide range of subjects in various primary schools, both in the state and independent sector. I have also been Head of Year in a number of different year groups.
After my maternity leave, I decided to continue teaching, however I wanted to combine this with spending quality time with my own children. Tutoring has given me the freedom to do this, whilst also providing the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and learning. I enjoy the one to one nature of tutoring and feel this is often much more beneficial to children than a busy classroom environment. It is easier to gauge children's misunderstandings and spend time working through them together. My lessons can be taught on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of children (no more than 6 in a group).
Tutoring Experience
I am an experienced and highly qualified teacher. Throughout my many years of teaching, I have been lucky enough to have taught in a wide range of year groups. Also, I have helped to prepare lots of children for their 11+ exams and have an excellent understanding of what is involved in these as well as the 7+ and 8+ entrance exams.
Tutoring Approach
My lessons are based online only and my Enhanced DBS certificate is registered on the Update Service. I will work closely with you to focus on your child’s specific targets. This will in turn ensure that they excel academically and develop a fearless attitude towards learning. By tailoring my lessons to students’ individual needs and focusing on positive language, I have been able to build great relationships with my students over the years which has led to amazing results.

Step 2
Personalised Learning
Every week, I will create an online lesson plan for your child using a range of resources and websites. We can either focus on one subject like Maths or English. Alternatively, we can combine two subjects in half hour blocks. I will be guided by you.
Step 1
Student Assessment
I will assess your child to find out what they know and what they need to work on. We will regularly review this and lessons will be adapted accordingly.
Step 4
Tutor Support
We will stay in close consultation so that you feel your child is being supported and that they are gaining confidence in their learning.
Step 3
Embrace Technology
Learning technology has come a long way. By incorporating it into our sessions, this will in turn make lessons more fun and engaging. We will use a variety of websites to consolidate learning during our lessons and suggestions for apps and websites will be made to use at home.
